Michael has been working at Tamen Accountants since he first established the practice in June 1983. 

He entered the accountancy profession because he always enjoyed maths at school, but at the same time, always enjoyed meeting and talking to people about their business lives, interests and concerns. 

Michael’s favourite thing about working at Tamen is the sense of satisfaction he obtains as a member of a team that always strives to give the best possible service to every client. 

Outside of work, his main interests are keep-fit, fell walking and reading, in particular modern history and biographies.

The best piece of advice Michael offers to any business is to engage with your accountant and look at just one or two basic measures which will indicate the health of your business. The golden rule is always keep some money in reserve as a rainy day working capital fund.

Mike has worked at Tamen since 2007, when he finished university. Mike got into accountancy by doing some part time work during holidays for his Dad, doing data entry and bank reconciliation jobs. The work gives him confidence and a real feeling of accomplishment.

Mike loves spending time with his young daughter, running and listening to music. 

His best accounting advice is that you need a trusted advisor who will keep in touch throughout the year. Regular contact is so important.

Alina has been working for us for almost a year, but has had involvement with the family business for many years. Alina enjoys working within a company that is constantly growing and with colleagues that never stop learning. 

Alina enjoys going to the gym, playing volleyball and spending quality time with her family. 

Her top accounting tip is to maximize your efficiency, stay up to date as things change very fast and you won’t even notice that and don’t be afraid to automate, as the accounting software is capable of a lot!

Kathy has been with the practice since we formed in 1983. She is a highly experienced PA, previously working in law, medicine and in industry. She believes Tamen has a great working environment with committed and friendly staff members. 

The gym is an important aspect of Kathy’s life, aiming for a minimum of five tough sessions per week.

Martin has been working at Tamen Accountants since 1985. He has always enjoyed working with numbers, and the challenge of turning a big of invoices and bank statements into a set of accounts. 

Martin enjoys cycling and spending time with his family.

His top accounting tip is to make sure that the figures make sense. Have a look at the trial balance at the end of each month and check that everything looks correct, rather than leaving it until the end of the year when it can become quite a problem to correct.

Mike has worked with ys for 6 years, and has been in the industry since 1980. He enjoys working for us as no two days are the same, and you are constantly presented with new challenges. 

Mike enjoys playing and watching sport and spending time with family and friends, especially his two grandchildren. 

His top accounting tip is to keep your business records up to date and always know where you are financially.
